Wasn't it necessary to collapse the economy in debt to end entitlements and start over with a new system?

It would appear that the crucial momentum has been achieved no matter who might become President. True economic experts knew the fixed social contracts and appeasements was not sustainable in the longer run. The collapse of the dollar and default on the national debt will provide an new beginning, economists knew all along. Wasn't that the plan all along?

The way Bush has been running the country you might think that he meant to crash the economy but I think it was just incompetence and it certainly was not necessary. We have the ability to change what is necessary to care for our old and sick without impoverishing the people who work and pay taxes, and crashing the economy will not improve our ability to do so. If the government defaults on the social contract the burden will fall on families so on average people will not be better off, unless you think that those too old to be productive would be left to starve and without medical care.
Reply:It won't be long until we are using the Euro instead of the Dollar as our currency!
