Does anyone have a good solution to get credit card debt paid off quickly?

I have about $4,000 in credit card debt. Does anyone have any good advice on getting rid of it fast? Or getting it consolidated to a low monthly payment?

Does anyone have a good solution to get credit card debt paid off quickly?
I have to be honest, my initial reaction to your question is that it's not going to happen for you. Nothing personal, I hope you do succeed in getting rid of this debt. But your follow up question about consolidating to a "low monthly payment" says to me that you don't yet have the motivation to do what's really necessary.

You should know that, in general, debt consolidation does not fix anything. In fact in many cases it gives people a temporary sense of relief or even tempts them to splurge on purchases they'd been putting off. If you don't deal with the underlying behavior that got you here, there's a very real chance you'd end up with all your old debts back PLUS the debt consolidation loan.

If you really intend to get out of debt, there's not much magic to it. You only need two things: a goal and a way to track spending. Being free of that $4,000 debt has to matter more to you than all the extra stuff you're used to spending money on. Until you really feel that way, there's not a system in the world that can force you to succeed.

Good luck!
Reply:Step 1) Stop eating out, or buying anything that is unnecessary until you have paid off that debt.

Step 2) Take the smallest one and pay as much as you can on it while still making the minimum payments on the others. You will pay it off quick, then roll the payment over to the next smallest - and add it to the minimum you were already paying.

Eventually that one will get paid off, keep rolling the money over, and the payments will get bigger and bigger.

You might consider making any you have with really high interest rates a priority too - try calling them and see if you can get the interest rate lowered.

Oh - and whenever you pay one of the cards off, STOP USING IT, but don't cancel it.

Having available credit helps your credit score.
Reply:Please do what River Euphrates says. Its the Dave Ramsey snowball method. It works if you do it. Dave says "eat rice %26amp; beans, beans %26amp; rice". That means Ramen noodles, no restaurants, and pay down that debt like your life depended on it.

Its all about priorities. If you prioritize getting out of debt high enough, you'll be out of debt in no time.

Make sure you know the difference between a need and a want. Cable TV is a "want". Food = "need". Eating out = "want" Starbucks = "want"

Get the drift? Don't vote for me, vote for River Euphrates or the first poster that mentions Dave Ramsey. Actually all 3 previous posters have good, solid advice. Remember, its about priorities and determination that will get you out of debt.

Don't know if you are still reading. ElGuapo has a great point. I also don't recommend consolidation. For some reason, those who consolidate fall right back into the same bad (over) spending habits. Maybe its because its not painful enough. Sometimes experiencing the pain is what motivates you to change your course. "Feel the pain", and do it the hard way!

Yes I know I'm paraphrasing what ElGuapo said, I'm not fishing for points. Seriously, don't give 'em to me. Sometimes hearing the same thing in different ways helps drive it home.
Reply:$4000 is too much.....I my view you should go for credit card debt settlement programs provided by this company. They have strong negotiation power. they helped me a lot when i was facing same problem. I m giving you their site : http://www.debtreduction123.net you just apply there they will call and let you know everything. The consultation is FREE. you will get the quote for free. apply and see if this will help you out.
Reply:Pay off your highest interest cards first, regardless of the balance. Make the credit cards your priority... if you can cut off cable, lower your cell phone, etc in order to make bigger payments, do that. Pick up a 2nd part time job if you can and allow that income to go strictly towards the debt.
Reply:Assuming you have Good or Excellent credit then you should go to: http://www.cardhub.com/ use the menu on the left to find the cards with 0% for 12 months (some Discover cards are very good for this) and then move your 4,000 to that card and start paying down

At least you will not get a heavy interest rate delaying your pay down!
Reply:You can better try this to get some useful links. It will help you a lot as it helped me.
