Can you consolidate debt after it has gone to collections?

I have a credit card debt for about $30,000 and haven't payed for about 2 months. I have looked into debt consolidation but I don't have the means to pay for that either right now. How long will it take for them to send the debt to a collections company? Then how long does it take them to go to court? I am just trying to postpone going to debt consolidation for a couple of months until after I have my baby. No one wants to hire a 7 month pregnant lady :( and my summer school position was cancelled.

Reply:Well my husband has had a lot of bad things ago against his record and with all of his bills that we didn't pay they sent it to a collection agency after about 6 months of trying to get the money their selves. They never send it to court, or at least with all my husband's they never did. Hell we waited years to pay off some of them. When you don't have the money you don't have the money. Believe me though it will make your credit look bad!
