Where were the Republicans calling for financial responsibilty the past 8 years when the National Debt doubled?

I see a lot of people here crying about how financially irresponsible Obama will be when he hasn't been President for a single day, but not a word about the Republicans doubling the National debt in eight years. What gives?

Where were the Republicans calling for financial responsibilty the past 8 years when the National Debt doubled?
What should it matter to Democrats anyway? They just voted in a president to wants to increase spending far and above what the Republicans did. McCain openly stated that he wanted to reduce spending, that's on record. Bush didn't even make spending an issue, which is how he suckered us with it.
Reply:Rush Limbaugh is already saying that the financial crisis is Obama's fault. Amazing since he just got elected just over 2 weeks ago.
Reply:Exactly. I will never take their "fiscal responsibility" banner seriously again.
Reply:And where were the democrats for the last 8 years, busy sending pork home and voting for every spending bill that came across their desks. And we did have this war going on, you know the one we wouldn't have had to fight if the dems had done the job in the 90s.
Reply:Both parties spent like drunken sailors for the last eight years, and only about 1/3 of the increase in spending had anything to do with the war on terror.

I blame the GOP because they're the ones with a veto pen and they're the ones running on a platform of fiscal responsibility.

The Dems spend too but they SAY they're going to spend, at least they're living up to their promises.
Reply:Oil or stupidity.
Reply:Planning to build bridges to nowhere or letting bridges fall.
Reply:Because the Republicans are masters at redirection.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain burning the constitution and letting his friends rob our treasury...

Look there is a black man in the white house...oooohhh, big bad boogie man.
Reply:I suppose you missed it when Obama said in the 60 Minutes interview that the national debt was irrelevant. Seems to me, it has been all the anti Bushies that have been screaming about it and will shut up once Obama takes over.

What a lot of people are screaming about is his promise to raise taxes on some, do away with taxes altogether for low income and pass out checks. You do the math. Under his plan, he would eliminate taxes on roughly 50%. It doesn't compute.
Reply:Who passes laws/budgets/spending? Who has been in control of this? I rest my case.
Reply:The republicans had some help with that lets not forget. When GW took office Clinton had just signed NAFTA which contributed to this mess, our country was put under attack by foreigners, we are in a war which republicans and democrats both voted for, not to mention Pelosi and Reid sitting in congress the past two years. I didn't vote for Obama but I hope he can come in and change some things for the better, but believe me, he is doomed to failure as long as he has Reid and Pelosi sitting in congress, any president will be. Those two need to go away for the good of us all. Don't place all the blame on republicans, I am comfortable taking our share but please, lets all use our common sense and give credit where credit is due.

Reply:Busy stuffing their pockets with the federal money Dumbya and his Dick were handing over to their friends.
