I just saw someone had said taxes aren't the way to reduce the record debt W put us in. How should we do it?

Two things must be done, cut the wasteful spending in Washington. This can be accomplished and still get good bills out. Allow the line item veto for the President. The waste has gone too far.





Second, Impose a high tarriff on any corporations products, that takes jobs out of our country and tries to import their products back in. Let the countries they move to support them. This will bring jobs back home and give us more tax base to work with.

And continued wastful spending will prevail?

Reply:america has control of the free market, so almost anything that you buy; whether it be from the Philippines or Germany - goes to America. if the American Congress can manage to spend less than a trillion a year, then the free market will help prices come back. at the cost of the rest of the world of course. the reason why production prices are getting high is actually because of the American debt. it would be more sensible to end the war as soon as possible, but responsibly. this will incur sending more troops for more or less 7 to 9 months - personally i'd just establish a communist government in Iraq, it's the easiest way to wipe out the forces of AQ, kill they're soldiers and supporters. i honestly believe that China or Russia would do a far better job in disciplining those terrorists.

It doesn't matter what anybody says in this section. Payoffs speak louder than any tax reform bill, educational bill, defense bill, healthcare bill, immigration bill, retirement bill, etc.

Reply:Stop spending in Iraq is #1. Bring the troops home. That will help a lot. There's other pork spending that can be cut, but I do think it will take a tax hike, for a while at least, to pay off China.

Added: W? Yes he's made mistakes, but you need to look to Congress when speaking about our national debt. Congress spends the money.
