How to report harrassing debt collectors?

We just received about 10 calls in a five minute span from a debt collector. The woman on the phone also threatened to throw us in jail. How do we go about reporting this because I know it is illegal? We are working out payment arrangements so I don't need the "pay your bills" speech, I just need to know how to go about reporting this problem.

How to report harrassing debt collectors?
You can ask them to stop contacting you by phone and ask that you only correspond with you via mail. You can report the harassment to the better business bureau.
Reply:Just play their game and call them every 10 minutes stating you're waiting for a call back.

Reply:You can call and ask to speak to a supervisor and report it. It's particularly good if you have the name of the harasser. They are supposed to call but not that often, and if you have a payment arrangement, they shouldn't call unless you don't pay.

After you've reported it, keep your answering machine on and don't answer, or say you're not home, you're the babysister or a relative.
Reply:You're wrong, it's not illegal. You owe them money. They want it back. How far would you go to get money back from somebody who ripped you off? My guess is pretty far as money is so important to you that refuse to pay back what you LEGALLY owe to someone else. You are the problem, not the bill collectors. Good luck.
Reply:check with your phone company about "call trace". if you can use it, it allows you to punch in a number after the call, and the phone company will keep a record of who made that call to you. it will only be released to the police tho.

after you get enuf of them, you contact your police dept.
Reply:If you are working with a company to consolidate your debt and pay it off they can contact the collectors directly to inform them that you are on a payment plan.
Reply:would fair trading deal with this kind of thing?
Reply:it isnt illegal.... you owe them cash and they can harrass you all they want!
Reply:It's not actually illegal.

The company you owe money to can call these collection agencies and just keep contacting you until you pay the mone you owe them.
Reply:Well mom of two.

You need to tell them that you are making arrangements of payment plans. there just trying to scare you into paying. My mom stopped using credit cards so this thing doesnt happen. So i suggest to use bebit.

You need to take it up with your state goverment. Tell them that debt collectors are constanly harrassing you and that your working out payment plans. Take it to court. I know it may seem scary but you have to do it for you and you children.
