I owe over $30,000. I've been in a nasty divorce that left me dry and living off of credit cards. Now I'm STILL looking for a job and only have creditors calling me 20 times a day.
What can I do about this debt? Any suggestions please. I don't have the funds to pay either of them monthly.
What can I do about my huge credit card debt?
Go see a financial advisor for more professional advice and help with legal letters and send a mail to your creditors that you will pay them and state your preferred terms of payment, they cant squeeze of anything if there are no liquids to gain so inform them you are currently insolvent but is looking for a job that would extinguish your dues. those credit card companies woulndt bother sue you since its more expensive having a lawsuit that winning over 30,000$ from you with damages. so dont worry much, just dont add up more debt and you might lose your properties.
goodluck.
Reply:i recommend beginning getting some credit services to see where you stand. Then maybe consider get a loan with better terms than your credit card. Both of these services are available to you from many companies with competitive prices listed on CardLister.com

Based on the amount of your debt ($30,000), the fact that you are not working, and the fact that you have no funds to make monthly payments, here is what I would suggest...
Debt settlement.
A debt settlement (or debt negotiation) company will work on your behalf to reduce the actual amount of debt that your creditors are willing to accept in order to dismiss your debt. Once you hire them the also deal directly with your creditors and get them off your back.
No more 20 phone calls a day.
Once you begin this process you stop making payments on your debts immediately. (although it sounds like you are not making payments right now anyway) This of course is not could for your credit but again, this type of program is for people like yourself who are already in deep debt and likely have a poor credit score.
Reductions in debt of 50% to 90% are not uncommon. In fact here are two actual debt settlement letters that were received on behalf of client by a company I recommend. One client had their debt reduced from over $32,000 down to $3,500. Here is the link http://www.debt-elimination-guide.com/de...
Debt settlement companies typically charge a percentage of the amount they reduce your debt by. This is good for the client because it motivates the settlement company to get as big of a discount as possible.
There are other options of course, and you can read more about them here... http://www.debt-elimination-guide.com/de...
Good Luck Joca

Reply:First go to a credit councellor or whatever they are called there and get them to make arrangements with your creditors and arrange for either better terms or better payment plan whatever. Also at the sametime go get a job, anything that starts bringing in money so you can show you're making an effort to get back on your feet and towards financial stability. Next is to either get a second job or quickly a better job and a second job so as to get out of debt faster.
If this fails I guess declaring you're bankrupt will work. Sorry.
